Heartland Steel Guitar Association By-Laws
The purpose of the Heartland Steel Guitar association is to promote steel guitar through organized jam sessions, training sessions, steel guitar shows, and general communication among players.
The governing board of the association shall consist of the President, Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer. All elected officers must be members of the association in good standing. Voting for officers shall be held during the last meeting of the year with internet ballots sent to members during the first week in November. The term of office shall run from January 1 st through December 31 st of the following year.
Membership will be open to all steel guitar players and steel guitar enthusiasts without consideration of geographic boundaries. The governing board may refuse or terminate any member who, in their opinion, does not abide by the rules of the association or whose behavior is otherwise deemed to be detrimental to the association.
No annual dues are to be collected as each event will be financed by donations at each specific event unless otherwise stated.
Meetings/jam sessions will be held on the 3 rd Sunday of every other month so as to not conflict with neighboring associations. The sequence of bi-monthly meetings shall begin is January. A special meeting/jam session may be considered in early December for a Christmas Party. Meetings/Jam sessions will normally be held from 1:00 pm until 5:00 pm unless otherwise stated and the format shall consist of:….. 1) A Round Robin session of generally simple songs within the capabilities of most players present. 2) An individual performance of any song of choice by each player. 3) A short business meeting to accommodate any association business, announcements, and a short training session. 4) An advanced Round Robin session featuring more difficult songs.
The Heartland Steel Guitar Association shall be a non-profit, non-registered association with the sole purpose of promoting steel guitar music.
Any modifications to the above by-laws must be by majority vote of the membership with notification e-mailed to the members at least 30 days in advance of voting. Only members with e-mail accounts will receive communications of any kind from the association as there are no provisions for standard mail.
The above by-laws were approved and adopted by a majority vote of members present at the meeting on 10/28/2010.
